Deadline: June 13th, 18:00h.
Objective: to stimulate awareness and creative participation through the use of the presence of the dancing human body.
Through simple exercises designed to activate the relationship between mind, body, sensation and sense of observation, participants will investigate the dance medium and they will aim to create and execute new and personal dances. Using stimulations such as thematic improvisation, memorization, observation and contact with others, participants will be creating new dances and settings in which dance can take place.
All the participants of the workshop will keep a journal of their experience and they will be invited to exchange with others at every session of the process.
On the last two days of the workshop, an informal presentation of the work accomplished maybe possible.
Ginelle Chagnon started her professional dance career in 1971 with Montreal’s Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. In the '80's she reached towards contemporary dance and also began to teach and play the role of rehearsal director. Collaborating in many creative processes and understanding the insider's point of view (the dancer's) as well as the outsider's perspective (the choreographer’s and the spectator’s) prepared her way to assist Jean-Pierre Perreault as of 1993. Currently, she is assisting choreographers Paul-André Fortier, Sylvain Emard, Heidi Strauss and other dance artists in their creative process. Aside for being alumni of the part time faculty at Concordia University's Contemporary Dance Department, she regularly guest teaches creative process workshops in Canada and abroad.
